Parker Rose , AMFT

she/her

Associate Clinician

My Philosophy:

My philosophy is that we heal when we understand and accept ourselves for who we really are. We find healing in relationships when we are able to do this with and for one another. I believe that it is in the safety of an authentic, motivated, and unconditionally accepting therapeutic relationship that we find the capacity to accept ourselves and others fully.

While this may sound simple, we are all familiar with life’s complexities that make this process difficult or even impossible. As your therapist, I will ask the tough questions, and walk alongside you as you gain awareness of these complexities and determine new ways of facing them that are in alignment with your strengths, resources, and values.

My Approach:

My approach to therapy is informed by a variety of different approaches and your particular needs. I am greatly informed by Gestalt therapy, which means that I pay a lot of attention to the present moment and aim to process any symptoms as they naturally arise during our sessions together. I aim to support you in cultivating a richer understanding of yourself through questions which spark reflection, art and nature exercises, and the occasional meditation.

All of my interventions are trauma-informed, socioculturally attuned, and considerate of the critical role played by our environment. I believe that attachment theory provides helpful tools for understanding how your early relationships shape your current relationships.

Experience/Clinical Focus:

During my graduate education, I had the honor of working with a wide variety of populations and concerns at various stages of development. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating complex trauma, anxiety/OCD, and life transitions. I enjoy supporting folks in the LGBTQIA+ community and their families, particularly the trans community. I also have experience working with individuals facing debilitating or chronic illnesses. The commonality that I have witnessed across all of these experiences: all have benefited from a therapeutic relationship that provides unconditional acceptance, curiosity, trust, and respect.

Some fun facts:

I am an avid reader of everything from novels to sociopolitical nonfiction to poetry. I enjoy identifying new native plants on hikes and fending off the tiny insects that like to munch on my broccoli plants. I enjoy moving my body and lifting heavy stuff occasionally. My favorite food is sweet potatoes (especially the purple ones).
